So let’s get started and meet up at the abbess metro station for the beginning of our tour of the Butte Montmartre.
You are now standing at the beginning of La rue des Abbesses. It’s name comes from the old Benedictine convent whose entrance was situated right here. You will find yourself facing an archway that you should go through to get to the passage des abbess. Go to the end of this little passageway, until you reach a flight of stairs which you should valiantly climb. The Pocketvox will be exploring the well known sights such as the Sacre Coeur. You will come to the square in front of the Sacre Coeur. look to your right. This is one of the most beautiful and famous views in Paris, and to your left, the facade of the Sacre Coeur. Spend a moment admiring the view, then walk over to the Sacre Coeur. With Pocketvox, you’ll listen to a commentary while seeing the places before you. Here, you will see two sets of three semicircular arches – A characteristic of Romanesque churches. To find the Byzantine elements, you must look towards the top of the church, whose numerous domes are directly inspired by byzantine churches.
