This is watchmojo.com and I’m Louise and will be profiling Vancouver.
A pretty sophisticated and ethnically diverse place. It has consistently made it as one of the top places to live in the world. Why is that? Where did it start? It was all at the Hudson’s Bay Company for trading and finding gold along the Fraser River that put it on the map in the first place. A trail to the Burrard Inlet was built, the first of its kind along with it for the Canadian Federation came a sailor by the name Captain John Gassyjack Dighton.
Vancouver’s popular Gastown was given this name to honor his talkative tendencies not his flatulation, as his name suggests. He came for the gold but never really found enough to strike it rich. What he did find he invested in the Burrard Inlet. Today, when visiting Vancouver you can take a tour of Gastown free of charge and check out all the stuff. With over 2 million people Vancouver is obviously a really big place. There’s lots to do, lots to see, it’s one of the only cities in Canada where you can ski in the mountains and swim in the sea, all on the same day.
