  1. Lonely Planet China Guide-Feng Shui and Well -being

We feel close and personal in the endless bus journeys. Its an amazing idea, these sleeper buses I haven’t seen them anywhere in the world. The air network is quicker, quite cheap and a lot less crowded. Despite outward appearances modern China hasn’t totally turned its back on its past. Behind its modernity are thousands of years of superstitions, ignore them at your peril.

“The Chinese people believe that there are different kinds of natural forces or energies around our living or working environment.”
“Now this all comes to play not just in our personal environment but also in designing amazing sky scrapers.”
“Yeah”
This theory is called Feng Shui and fundamentally it is believed that a building should have its back to a mountain and its front facing water. This is the Bank of China Tower there is another building between it and the harbor which is a huge violation of Feng Shui. Whereas the Hong Kong Shanghai Bank bought the land in front of its building 130 years ago so no one could block their view. The bank has perfect Feng Shui which should lead to great success.
“And this bank is one of the most successful.”
“Yeah”
