Pet Travel and Relaxation Methods
There are several things you can do to help your dog relax, both, before you leave and also during your trip.

Serving your dog food and water while travelling can be easier if you keep a few things in mind.
Instead of bringing your dog’s large heavy bowls, you can uh… get some light weight soft bowls. I like to have two; one for food and another one for water. I like to bring this water one along when we go hiking locally so Pip doesn’t get dehydrated. When I make a long road trip with Pip, I place all of her hard crunchy food inside of a small rectangular waste basket. This keeps it from getting torn or crushed and I bought this to only be used for this purpose and it was a lot less expensive than the containers that are sold as food carriers.
Let’s talk about dog car safety harnesses. These are good for two reasons.
One, it will keep your dog from becoming a projectile if you get into a car accident and second, it will help keep uh… very young puppies or aggressive dogs uh… into staying in one place in a car. Uh so here is how we would put on the particular one I have for my dog. Pip dress over the head, one arm through, underneath and then back up to the other side. Each harness will be different so you can look at the instructions for yours and then I will have uh Pip jump up into the car and I will hook her up. Okay Pip, Pip car, good car.
Chao, my name is Silvia Tosolini and today I’m going to share with you some safety tips that you can use in your next trip in Italy with your kids.
If you visit a crowded place like Venice, it might happen that your kid might get lost. So I suggest that you write your phone number and kid’s name on his hands. Not all Italians speak English, so it may be useful if your kids learn some basic Italian emergency sentences. Here is how you can identify yourself- “Il mio nome e’ Silvia.” “That means, “My name is Silvia.”
“Again, “Il mio nome e’ Silvia.”

This morning we are joined with travel columnist Eileen Ogintz, with some tips to help you plan that last minute get away. Thanks for joining us. Thanks for having me here and its interesting because I was just talking with my husband we were saying the summer has just flown by and we had wanted to plan so many trips but they just weren’t working and so now we are just trying to cram them in for the end of August or September and it is too late for many people to plan.
